This page lists the homes, apartments and rooms that are for rent on Huurmarkt for the longer term. You rent directly from the landlord: a private owner, or a landlord who offers their homes through Huurmarkt. There is no booking, and no payment or deposit goes through the platform. How responding to a long-term rental works
Responding to a home is free. Huurmarkt charges the home seeker nothing under any heading, including registration or agency fees, and the landlord pays nothing to list a long-term home. You send a response with a motivation and the rental period you are looking for. If the landlord invites you, you see the exact address and you agree a viewing.
Renting safely: view first, then sign
Because Huurmarkt only makes the introduction, safety rests on the conversation itself. Never pay anything before you have viewed the home in person and signed a written tenancy agreement. Never transfer a deposit, reservation or key fee to someone you only know digitally; Huurmarkt will never ask you to. Do not share your ID or BSN through the chat.
Renting out a home
Listing a home for the longer term is free. To publish you provide proof of ownership or authority. It is not made public, and the listing is removed if the proof does not arrive. If your own lease or the owners' association forbids subletting, the listing does not belong here.
Frequently asked questions
How do I respond to a long-term rental?
You send one response per home, with your motivation (required), your preferred rental period and, if you like, your gross monthly income and some personal details. The landlord reads the responses and invites whoever they want to meet; only after such an invitation do you see the exact location. No booking is created. More in Long-term housing rental.
Who signs the tenancy agreement, and who receives the deposit?
You and the landlord do, together, outside Huurmarkt. Huurmarkt does not conclude tenancy agreements, process rent or deposits, or act in the tenancy relationship. So never transfer money before you have viewed the home in person and signed a written tenancy agreement. See also the rules for long-term housing rental (Dutch).
What does the listing of a long-term rental show?
The bare monthly rent, the service costs, whether gas, water and electricity are included, the total per month, an indication of the deposit that goes directly to the landlord, the income requirement, the available-from date and the rental period in months. You can filter on surface area, furnished and registration possible.
Can I register at the address?
The landlord switches that on with the attribute Registration possible. Whether it is possible in your case is up to the municipality and the landlord, so ask before you sign.
