Huurmarkt is an online marketplace where you can rent or list almost anything — from a sander to a campervan, from a photography studio to a party tent.

The idea is simple: everything you need temporarily, in one place.

People who own items or spaces can quickly list them, manage availability, and earn from things that would otherwise sit idle. People who need something can search locally, compare, and book directly.

Today's rental market is fragmented. To rent different things you have to visit different platforms:

How does Huurmarkt itself earn money?#

Huurmarkt withholds a service fee from the owner's payout on every booking (typically 10%, at least €2) and — if protection is enabled on the listing — a protection fee that goes into the risk pool. The renter pays the rental price, the deposit and any delivery costs; those two amounts are not added on top.

For long-term housing, a different model applies: that part of the platform is free, for the owner as well as for the home seeker. No money runs through Huurmarkt there. See Long-term housing.

Frequently asked questions#

Is Huurmarkt only for individuals?#

No. Both individuals and businesses can rent or list. There's no separate business account yet, but companies can use the platform without restrictions.

Does Huurmarkt work across the Netherlands?#

Yes. The platform works nationwide; results are filtered by distance and location.

Are payments safe?#

Yes. Payments go through established providers (Stripe, iDEAL). Huurmarkt does not store full card details. See Payments.

What if something goes wrong?#

Damage, disputes, and abuse are handled inside the platform. See Report damage and Dispute procedure.

• Use Huurmarkt's chat for every booking — handling things outside the platform voids your protection.
• Read each item's specific terms and rules from the owner.
• Take photos at pickup and return — without them a damage report cannot be assessed.
• You must be at least 18 to use Huurmarkt.
