Rent an aerial lift, forklift or generator

Start with the height you have to work at, not with the type of machine. Under Lifting, Hoisting & Work Equipment you filter by Working height in metres — the height at which you can safely work, not the height of the machine itself. For indoor work up to eight metres or so, a room scaffold or scaffold tower from Tools & Construction is often the more practical answer: less transport, no certificate, quicker to put up. Above that, or outside against a façade, you end up with a scissor lift — straight up, plenty of deck, level ground needed — or a boom lift, which reaches over an obstacle.

Then measure the width of your gate and look at the ground; that decides which machine fits more often than the working height does. If 'Operator certification required' is set on the listing, the owner expects you to show it at handover — in these two subcategories that attribute is a filter, so you can also deliberately search around it.

If weight has to go up or be moved, look at Max load in kilos: the maximum weight you may load or lift. That attribute appears under both Lifting, Hoisting & Work Equipment and Warehouse & Logistics Equipment, so you can compare a forklift and a stacker on the same measure. For short runs across a level floor a hand pallet truck or an electric stacker will do; only once you are driving outside over paving or sand, or reaching high into racking, do you need a forklift or telehandler.

For groundwork, access sets the size: a mini excavator has to pass through the gate or along the garden path, so measure that width before you search and ask for the transport dimensions. Under Construction & Industrial Machines, choose by Power source — Electric, Battery, Fuel or Hydraulic: electric and battery indoors and wherever noise or exhaust fumes are a problem, fuel and hydraulic outdoors and for heavy work. You rent a generator when there is no connection or the one there is too light: building without a meter cupboard, work in a field, a pump running for days on end. Look not only at the output but at what you plug into it — a motor briefly draws far more on start-up than its rating plate suggests. Ask which sockets it has and whether the tank is full. A fuel generator runs outdoors; if you need power indoors, filter by Power source electric or battery.

The attribute Utility connection required works the other way round, and can be set under Construction & Industrial Machines and under Power, Climate & Energy: three-phase power (400V) or a fixed connection is needed. Check before booking that you have that on site. A building dryer or heater from the same group pulls moisture out of a freshly plastered or flooded room and usually runs for days on end — so count on a run of consecutive days, not on a single morning.

Huurmarkt has no separate business account: you work with an ordinary account that you mark as a business in your profile. Your company name is then required and publicly visible, you can add your VAT number and that stays private; there is no public badge for verified companies.
