Rent a stroller, travel cot or toys

Count the weeks you genuinely need it. A travel cot for two weekends at the grandparents a year, a car seat for that one drive, a second buggy for the holiday: after that it is in the way for years. Trying before buying is the second reason — which baby carrier sits comfortably, does that stroller fit your boot. Do buy what you use daily. If it is a whole phase, such as the months your child fits that one cot, put the period into a single booking rather than separate weeks: the owner can set a discount for longer periods. What travels with it — rain cover, shopping basket, adapters for the infant carrier, the mattress, the harness, the manual — the owner writes per listing as free text under 'Included accessories'. You cannot filter on it, so read it and ask in the chat for whatever is missing before you book: does the buggy fit folded into your boot, is the rain cover there, is the matching mattress still with it. The owner is responsible for the condition, the completeness and the safety of what they rent out; you are responsible for correct use and for supervising your child, because no rented item takes that supervision over. Before you book, ask for the year of manufacture, the approval mark, the class and the manual, and at handover go through together whether everything is complete. Always report it through the platform, even without visible damage and even if your child was not in it; the seat is not used again after that, and the same goes for a rented helmet after a fall. The replacement counts as damage to the rented item and is set at its current value, not at the price of a new one. Where Huurmarkt protection is on for the listing, that replacement can fall under the protection, provided the usual conditions are met: photos at pick-up and at return, a verified renter and damage within the rental period. Huurmarkt assesses every report and there is no right to a payout; if you conceal the crash you lose the protection to the extent that Huurmarkt is prejudiced by it. Picking up from the owner is the norm, and here that often works fine: a travel cot in its bag and a folded buggy fit in any car. A slide, a playhouse or a playpen is another story, so ask in the chat about the dimensions, the weight and whether the owner delivers, before you book.
