Listings you book on the owner's own website
In short
- On some listings you do not make the reservation on Huurmarkt, but on the owner's own website. You can spot them by the "External booking" chip and by a "Book via …" button instead of a booking panel.
- These are companies whose booking process contains something we cannot take over — for example a design step where you put together your own print, or their own availability system per pick-up location.
- Through Huurmarkt no booking is made on such a listing: no payment, no deposit, no Huurmarkt protection, no cancellation through us and no chat with the owner. Everything that happens after you click through runs under that company's own terms.
How do I recognise one?
In the search results the card carries an "External booking" chip and the price reads "from € …". On the listing page there is no booking panel: no calendar, no price breakdown, no payment button and no chat button. There is one button that takes you to the company's website, in a new tab. Right below that button sits a fixed notice saying that Huurmarkt is not acting as an intermediary here; the owner cannot remove it.
What does that mean for me as a renter?
| Regular Huurmarkt listing | External listing | |
|---|---|---|
| Reserving and paying | On Huurmarkt | On the owner's website |
| Huurmarkt service fee | Comes off the owner's payout, not off your total | Does not apply — you pay what the owner charges |
| Deposit | Through Huurmarkt | Under the owner's terms |
| Huurmarkt protection | Applies | Does not apply |
| Messaging the owner | Through Huurmarkt chat | No chat — use the contact details on their site |
| Cancelling | Huurmarkt's cancellation rules | The owner's cancellation rules |
| Contact if something goes wrong | Through Huurmarkt | Directly with the owner |
So do read the terms on the site you land on. That is where the company should clearly state who they are, which terms apply and how cancelling works.
If something about the listing on Huurmarkt itself is wrong — incorrect information, a button that goes nowhere — let us know, because the listing does sit with us. If your complaint is about the owner and the two of you cannot work it out, tell us as well: we pass the complaint on and the company replies to you directly within five working days.
What does "from € …" mean?
It is an indicative price: the lowest price at which this offer is actually available from the owner. What you end up paying depends on what you choose on their site — a longer period, extras or delivery, for instance. You only see the final price there, and it stands apart from the prices you see elsewhere on Huurmarkt.
I am searching on dates — does that mean it is free?
External listings stay in the list when you search on dates. They are not there because we checked that something is free on those days: on these listings we cannot see that. The calendar sits with the owner, and that is where you check it.
If the page asks you for a date before you click through, that is only to land you on the right day at the owner's site. It is not a reservation, and it is not a confirmation that anything is available that day.
Why do you offer this?
Because part of the supply would otherwise not be findable at all. Some owners have a booking process that is tied to their own site. We would rather show you that supply with an honest warning attached than have you miss it.
For owners: can I do this too?
We switch external listings on per company by hand; you cannot enable it yourself. Separate terms apply: you are responsible for the content of the listing and for the button, the destination has to be about the same offer as the listing, and you update the listing when your offer changes.
